Goompi, aka Stephen Larcombe, is a proud culture man a Gurreng Gurreng descendant (Bundaberg region Qld).

Born in 1981 on the Gold Coast, Goompi grew up and has lived between the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads all his life.

As a teenager, Goompi learnt culture from his skin fathers, the Nunukal people of Stradbroke Island.

Continuing to practice culture throughout his life, Goompi represents the local Kombumerri and Minjungbal areas and people, working alongside local custodians and the local Aboriginal community.

Goompi has been a respected and recognised artist for close to 20 years. He is also a Song man, teacher and community mentor.

Goompi manages the Bundjalung Kunjiel (dance troupe), which he formed in 2010. The dance troupe consists of family and local people and represents stories of the local Gold Coast region. They present their song, dances and stories at events within the local community, interstate and overseas.
