My artistic journey began quite late. Whilst rearing young children I craved a creative outlet. Naturally, I decided to combine my rich indigenous heritage with my love for art.
Since beginning my journey in 2022 I have seen a keen interest in indigenous art increase exponentially. There is a great satisfaction in sharing my story on canvas, with the world.

I am a direct Ngunnawal descendant, born in Sydney and now living in the Nowra region on Yuin Country, the traditional lands of the Dharawal and Yuin peoples. As a proud mother, grandmother, and independent artist, my life and creativity are deeply shaped by the strength, resilience, and cultural teachings of my Ngunnawal ancestors from the Canberra region.
Painting began as a simple hobby—something personal, grounding, and healing. Over time, it has become a meaningful way for me to share my culture, express my identity, and pass on my understanding of Dreamtime stories. Each artwork reflects the stories, emotions, and teachings that have been carried through generations, and the connection I maintain to both my ancestral Country and the Country on which I live today.
My art celebrates family, community, and the spiritual connection Aboriginal people hold with the land. As a grandmother, I feel a strong responsibility to keep our stories alive, ensuring they are carried forward with pride and respect. Through my paintings, I honour my Ngunnawal heritage while also paying respect to the Yuin custodians whose land nurtures me and my work. I paint with purpose, pride, and a deep commitment to cultural storytelling.

Craig Buchanan was born in Melbourne, Australia. Both parents died when he was two, so he lived with an uncle, but tragically he died. He and his twin brother were then placed in foster care; there they had a tormented childhood till finding living relatives at the age of 16. Craig bounced around from home to home.
He married in 1992 to and had three children. After getting injured at work and forced to retire he decided to play a bigger part in his cultural background, with the aid of one of his uncles he returned to country. He became involved in several committees. After having a cousin stay for a while, he became intrigued with the way he did his dot paintings.
He then decided to become more involved in learning the process of dot painting. The first few paintings were all traditional dot painting, but he started in introduce his own twist and style into each painting. Craig tries to tell a story with each and every unique painting.

Sian Harris
Sian Harris
0472184188
Sian Harris is a Kurnu Paakantyi woman from Wilcannia in far west New South Wales. She is a contemporary Aboriginal artist who works mainly with acrylic on canvas and mixed media works on paper.
Her body of work comes from the worldview of a Kurnu Paakantyi Nhuungku. The pieces are at once personal and political, in keeping with the artist’s stance that her presence, as a self-presenting Blak Woman, in systems and structures built to exclude her, is a radical act. The work focuses on Paakantyi Spirituality; Aboriginal resistance; connection to Country; decolonising queerness; mental illness; and representations of womanhood and the female form.
