OWNER AND DIRECTOR OF COOEE ART
Mirri Leven is the Managing Director and owner of Cooee Art. Leven holds a double degree in International Development and Fine Arts, as well as a Masters degree in Art Administration from the UNSW College of Fine Art. She has sat twice on the AAAA board since 2016 and is a passionate advocate for the Australian Indigenous arts industry in Australia and abroad. Under her guidance Cooee Art has undergone a continuous evolution in every facet of the business over the last decade. The gallery was established by Adrian Newstead in 1981. Today, as Australia’s oldest exhibiting Indigenous-focused fine art gallery and is solely owned by Mirri Leven. Cooee Art is run as a space of collaboration, working directly with First Nations curators, art centres, and represented artists. 10% of all profit goes directly to our current non-profit partner charity, focused on betterment of life in Indigenous communities.
